Cannabis plants can readily absorb heavy metals from soil and growth media. These elements have well-documented negative effects on human health and thus screening for heavy metals is important to ensure the safety of cannabis products.

Analysis of heavy metals is performed using an Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP/MS). All results are quantitated against calibration curves prepared from certified reference standards.
